Installing unc0ver

For support in English, ask for help on the official r/Jailbreak Discord Server.

The unc0ver jailbreak tool is capable of jailbreaking every iOS device on firmware version 11.0 up to 12.4.

Note that the unc0ver jailbreak is not “persistent” (meaning it does not remain installed after a reboot). You will need to re-run the exploit after every reboot. You will be instructed on how to do this.

Due to how custom applications are installed to the device, in most cases you will need to reinstall the unc0ver jailbreak application to your device every 7 days from your computer.

We will use the Cydia Impactor tool to install the unc0ver jailbreak application to your iOS device for use in the next step.

Installing the application

  1. Open Cydia Impactor
  2. Plug your iOS device into your computer
    • Make sure your computer is trusted and allowed to view the contents of your device
  3. Drag and drop the unc0ver .ipa file into Cydia Impactor
  4. Enter in your Apple ID and Password
    • This information is sent to Apple only
  5. If you use 2FA, go to and generate an App-Specific Password to use in Cydia Impactor instead of your regular password

The app will now install to your iOS device.

Trusting the application

  1. Go to Settings -> General -> Device Management -> <Your Apple ID>
    • Depending on your usage, Device Management may be labeled Profiles and Device Management
  2. Tap Trust "<Your Apple ID>"

The unc0ver application can now be opened from home screen.

Running unc0ver

  1. Reboot your phone
    • This is not necessary but recommended
  2. Open the unc0ver application from your home screen immediately afterwards
  3. Tap “Jailbreak”
  4. Reboot your phone when prompted
  5. Open the unc0ver application from your home screen immediately after rebooting
  6. Tap “Jailbreak”

The unc0ver jailbreak is now installed and the Cydia package manager will be installed to your home screen.

If the app or your device crashes/restarts unexpectedly and the jailbreak isn’t installed, simply try rebooting and running the exploit again until it does work.
